To Fall Apart

To fall apart and to reconstruct

A version of yourself you’re not used to seeing

Lonely days waiting for notice

Inspiration awaiting the tick of the clock to ignite some action

But your legs crumble at the thought of moving

The path is uncertain and you don’t know what you will see

When faced with the reflection of who you’re supposed to be

The sparkle that once was there

Still shines, but shines so deep

Buried in thoughts that no one can hear

Clouded by doubts, insecurity and fear

When you are stripped bare and taken apart

Piece by piece until you know who you are

What you are made of

And you are reminded it is still your choice

What stays in, what has served its purpose and how to evolve

To a new version of you, reconstructed, imperfect, raw but alive.

To be Free

Walking down the street without reason,
What a treat!
To sip a cup of coffee, to laugh with friends, to hold a hand.

Do you know where you are going? With what purpose? Is it essential?

Limit your life experience, confine your existence to a 5k radius.

Tough days are past, more yet to come
When time has no meaning and you find yourself alone.

Think of your mothers, your children, your health. Think of those who now may rest.

And when you feel lost and hopeless… take a breath. If you can, you are winning.

‘Human Again’

I wake up in the morning
And it feels the same
The sun shines
The birds sing
But I don’t go about my day

Instead I pause and reflect
Not by choice or will
But because humanity was bestowed a rare yet cruel gift

We all sit and wait
Many of us pray for better days
But within the fear of the unknown
We find something we thought was gone

Deep within our busy routines
Constant demands and lack of peace
We finally find time

Time to remember who we are
Time to care
Time to share

Time to figure out what really matters and time to give back

One day soon, hopefully very soon, this break will end
Not without sorrow and certainly with a fair amount of learnings

When this day comes we will be better, we will be stronger, we will be kinder…

We will be human; again.

‘Brog’

I choose life
When times are hard
I choose life
When the way is uncertain
I choose life
When doubts creep in
I choose life
When confronted with fear
I choose life

I choose life in the making
I choose you above anything
You helped me gain perspective
You helped me see it more clear
You helped me value what really matters
Even though you’re not yet here

I can’t wait to meet you soon
And hold you in my arms
With a smile that can’t be contained
You will bring light to both our hearts

We will begin a new family soon
But the love is already here
The love that both of us cherish
We will always protect it
And keep it within

Today I want to say thank you
For making me stronger than I ever thought I could be…
You’re a warrior with a brave heart
You’re my little ‘Brog’ that soon we will meet.

On this road we call life

On this road we call life, you can’t see the finish line. You can run but it might end too fast.

So take your time, look around you. Embrace who you are and don’t be afraid to care.

One day you will wake up not realising you’re about to cross it. Not knowing what beauty lays ahead, what ends and what starts.

We walk this road often hunted by fears. Often focused on tasks, not so much on living.

Wake up today and live a little.

Connect, love and experience everything that comes your way until living becomes as effortless as breathing

Until it gets to a point where no matter how young or old, when that line is about to be crossed, you have truly lived life to its fullest. You have fulfilled your existence by simply appreciating the opportunity to be here.

The only day that matters is today.

The only time that is relevant is now.

A tough treasure

I love everything life brings me.

The good and the bad,

The new and the exciting,

The old and the lame.

I love the loss of what I almost had and the feelings it has brought me.

I love all that I have achieved, they are part of me.

I seek no perfection in the moments I cherish

And no disappointment in the failures I carry.

Every moment and every experience are just steps that brings me closer to the person I want to become.

Driven by hope,

Hardened by challenges.

A though treasure it is life.

A Mother’s Prayers

I made plans thinking of you

I looked into places and pictured you

I await the time I can hold you in my arms

And I pray to the skies that you will find the light

That will guide you back to me

Because a soul is never lost

And our hearts will again meet

Like the singing of birds, so perfect though never taught

I will love you with all the strength of my heart

I await the time I will see you smile

And step by step I will hope to guide you to a place where I’m no longer needed

So you can build a journey of your own

always knowing you have a place to call home.

Harmony

Harmony is one of the key ingredients to lead a happy life.

If you lose harmony at home or in the work environment and you allow circumstances to swallow you bit by bit, soon you will cease to exist.

You let go of your aspirations and instead succumb, becoming a human sponge that is influenced by everything and all, sucking the good and the bad, ultimately internalising emotions without letting go.

It is time to reset. To inspire and to be inspired. To welcome change as a challenge that will lead you to greatness.

If you feel down, respect those emotions and allow yourself to live through it. If you feel happy, do the same.

One thing that is never going to change is that life is uncertain. The secret of harmony is accepting this truth.

You are more resilient than you can imagine. Don’t give bad circumstances the power it does not have.

We may not control the ocean but we are still the ones steering the boat in the right direction.

Small Acts of Kindness

There is a lot to be said for small acts of kindness and the impact it has on things.
Our mind set, our day, our lives. The way we do things on a daily basis. Following the same old routine in auto pilot can suddenly change with a small act of kindness, given or received.

I believe the beauty of it is not on the act itself but on what it represents, to be acknowledged. Someone has noticed you as an individual or you have seen someone outside of the total, outside of the ‘people’. You have seen a person.

How beautiful it is to relate, to appreciate again. We are always so focused on the inside of our troubled minds. To be acknowledged is like pressing pause or awaking from a day dream. And it is relieving.

Let’s never forget that inside the masses, the crowd there are little dots we call human beings. We are so diverse and special and yet we are the first ones to forget.

Today an act of kindness reminded me that I’m here and for that I’m thankful.

To Accept

To accept things in life is often more difficult than it seems.

Today I have woken up with a feeling I can’t quite explain. It is like a soft sadness that wraps around my heart. It is a feeling that I don’t often experience and it touches me deeply.

I’ve woken up this morning realising I must accept the challenges life has made available to me. That I must improve and change what is within my control and perhaps everything will make sense towards the end of this journey we call life.

I have realised how important it is to appreciate what you have, while you have it. And that gratitude alone is the single most important feeling to carry in life.
